About Dr. Herman

Dr. Aryeh Herman is deeply interested in the human mind, philosophy, and behavior. He completed his M.A. and Psy.D. training in Clinical Psychology at the University of Hartford, graduating with a doctorate in 2008 with a dissertation focused on evidence-based substance abuse treatment. Before graduate school, Dr. Herman earned his B.A. in psychology from the George Washington University, Magna Cum Laude, and spent two years conducting research at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Herman received additional specialized training in psychiatric medication management via a post-doctoral Master’s degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology from Farleigh Dickenson University.

Clinical training

Dr. Herman has more than 15 years of experience in providing clinical care to a diverse set of patient populations. After completing his clinical externship and predoctoral internship at VA Connecticut Healthcare Systems and inpatient psychiatric hospitals in Connecticut, he worked within the Errera Center, providing group therapy focused on addiction and recovery, emphasizing self-esteem. Dr. Herman was a staff psychologist at the Yale Stress Center, and was appointed Associate Research Scientist at Yale University; and continues to conduct research on the etiologies of mental illnesses. Dr. Herman has also specialized in working with young adult populations, treating substance abuse, and helping clients with the transitions from adolescence to adulthood.

In his free time, Dr. Herman spends time with his family. He is an avid amateur chef who enjoys fishing and dabbling in computer coding.
